David Brown (CA)
David Brown is a versatile instrumentalist, playing banjo, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. He's been at the heart of the Bay Area old-time music community for over 30 years, and also has a deep love for Quebecois, English country dance (Playford Clawhammer, anyone?), string ragtime, and many other types of music. David is in the band "Uncle Dave" with Kathrine Gardner and Dave Courchaine.
Frieda Enoch (MD)
Frieda Enoch has been performing and leading sing-alongs for many years. In recent times, she has partnered with the Folklore Society of Greater Washington and Fred Stollnitz to bring folk music to a biweekly "group sing" at the Bender Jewish Community Center in Rockville, Maryland. Music moves the spirit, for the experienced and the novice. Frieda invites and encourages all to raise their voices in song!
Elizabeth Melvin (MD)
Elizabeth Melvin is the founding director of The Freedom Choir, a 60-voice community choir celebrating its tenth year. Since May 2020 she has led a weekly online z00m sing called Rise and Sing with over 30 guest songleaders and hundreds of singers coming from far and wide.
Fred Stollnitz (MD)
Fred Stollnitz founded and coordinates the Schweinhaut Song Circle, which met monthly at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, from July 2015 until the pandemic hit. Co-sponsored by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington and Carpe Diem Arts, the Song Circle welcomes everyone, regardless of age or experience, to lead or request songs, sing along, or just listen. Since April 2020, it has continued on z00m, enjoying the expanded geographical reach provided by the Internet.
Pete Turner (FL)
Pete Turner, a native of the United Kingdom based in Gainesville, FL, has been leading a weekly Beatles Sing-along by z00m since June 2020. He has covered 57 different Beatles songs over a 27-week period, and plans to continue until the pandemic has ended. He enjoys looking out over a screen of z00m boxes with enthusiastic participants belting out their favorite Beatles songs from 1963 to 1969.
